Dear Friends,
This year has tested us profoundly, as the nation faces an escalating crisis of companion animals flooding the shelters. Emerging from the challenges of the pandemic, we took much needed steps and contacted the Governor and crafted a comprehensive document, declaring a state of emergency for California’s companion animals. I have been tirelessly advocating through press engagements and we have shared the urgent interviews shedding light on the plight of our companion animals on our social media pages. I hope you have had a chance to view them.
Yet, the need is dire, Shelter funding hinges on state allocations, affecting vital spay/neuter, expansion, and community outreach programs. We’re delving into this issue and we’re told to do a whistleblower audit on UC Davis that holds the states funding for the shelters financial needs addressing this crisis. The surge in abandoned animals necessitates immediate action, as rescue groups our stretched thin. They call upon us, the rescue community, for help, but do not give us enough time. So many beautiful lives have been lost in the last 15 years and even more in the last year. We are pleading with people to stop surrendering and abandoning their animals. Ask for help. Some shelters offer vouchers for food, and non-emergency medical care. Also, there are some groups that offer some financial aid to private animal owners, but not to rescue groups. It is most difficult for us to keep operating without financial aid and grants and we count on you, our LBWF family, to support this necessary journey to help those who cannot speak for themselves and make our world a better place. We must fight for what our rights are and should be for all living beings. We need your help now and always. Please make a much needed donation today.
To our cherished LBWF family, your steadfast support, donations, and contributions sustain our mission. Special gratitude to those using our Amazon and Chewy wishlists to donate essential food and treats. I hope you are following my feeding protocol and all the health information I post on social media. This is all for you to give your companion animals the longest, healthiest and happiest lives.
May the serenity of the holidays find a place in your heart. Travel safely, be well and never hesitate to lend a helping hand to those in need. Please remember to check on the seniors and their pets. The storms affecting many will only get worse.
Thank you for being an essential part of the LBWF family. Your donations save lives and for that, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Please share this very important message with your friends and family and all animal lovers. The time could never be more urgent.
Wishing You Peaceful Holiday,
Linda Blair
