On this National Dog Day…

Today is National Dog Day!
For those of us that love our best friends, they are the lucky ones! Living beside you, sleeping with you, going for a hike, a swim in the ocean, camping or enjoying a coffee shop and living inside in your loving home, being your best friend!

There are others that are losing their lives, so many stories of dogs tied up, thrown out in the desert in high temperatures or pouring rain. They can’t survive on their own!! A shelter is not a shelter as the public thinks, there are many that claim they don’t have enough funding and space or medical care, never getting baths or seen by the public. If they’ve been there too long, and it could be days, they are given 72 hours to rescuers before they are euthanized! They are not part of the “Clear the Shelters“ campaigns which you only see some of the dogs, cats and other animals made available for adoption.

Why is this happening? Veterinarians are over priced for spay and neuter and vaccinations, causing an extreme pet over population and a lot of sick puppies! Let us remember our friends that are losing their lives in the shelters and on the streets. Companion animal care is skyrocketing, food pricing, people losing their homes, on strike for better wages and inflation all factor in.
Animal shelters are in crisis mode as Americans struggle to afford their pets – Vox

If you can, foster or adopt and save a beloved, best friend today! Even though you’re busy, so is the very overwhelmed shelter and rescue community, you truly could save an innocent angels life! Currently, many have colds and therefore could contaminate the general population so they’re not seen by the public or they’re traumatized and scared. The rescues are aware and are doing everything that we can across the country to save as many as possible. The amount of animals dying in the shelters and the euthanasia list that we get on a daily basis would make your head spin. (No pun intended!)

There’s simply too many animals everywhere,  not enough room and space or funding. We keep fighting and all of us have boots on the ground. Rescues rely on fosters, volunteers and donors and we sure could use your help and support.

We’ve included our wish list from Amazon and Chewy. Even we struggle to keep the food coming in. We’re in a huge heat wave and ordered another truckload of water to keep our dogs cooled off in baby pools and plenty of drinking water. We are on 2 1/2 acres of play yards and our dog cabins have air conditioners, but all costs have skyrocketed beyond belief.
The small dogs pictured in this email are just a few we have recently rescued that had colds or were filthy dirty along with these big, gorgeous, large dogs that were being euthanized that day. We rushed up to the shelter to save their lives. There are so many that it is overwhelming and the stress is just too much.

Whatever you can do to make a difference, including asking your work if they do matching donations or picking an item or two from our wishlists is so appreciated. Everyone has somebody they know that has funds but doesn’t know where it’s safe to donate. Let them know of the hard work we do! We need to raise an incredible amount of money to help save and keep caring for these angels! Anything you can do to help is so very much appreciated and needed!

With gratitude,
Linda
