Your Support is Greatly Needed!
Dear Friends,
As you may be aware, donations and support are critically needed as a result of a variety of economic issues affecting us all today. From inflation impacting rescues with the rapidly climbing cost of goods to monetary support decreasing as a result of these concerns, it appears to be a vicious spiral affecting us all. Nonprofits are straining to keep their heads up and bridge the gap.
At this time, our main needs are support towards our skyrocketing food and mounting vet bills. We are so very grateful for your assistance, and any amount you can provide is greatly appreciated; the simple cost of a cup of coffee can provide food and care for an animal in need. We are deeply grateful for your support and doing your part to contribute to the ending of this unprecedented tragedy of homeless and abandoned companion animals.
In other news, we are sad to report that the Senate Appropriations Committee held the AB 332 bill, the Animal Shelter Data Collection Act, because the Department of Public Health (CDPH) did not want it to proceed ahead. In other words, the bill was destroyed by CDPH. This means that crucial data that was used by the municipal shelters for adoptions and euthanasia numbers to enact better policies to serve the animals doesn’t have to be compiled. Many philanthropy nonprofits who support rescues use this information to locate the most need to direct their much needed grants to. This is just one more factor contributing to the massive euthanasia that is happening. As you may remember, Linda has been pushing on government on this issue as well as trying to get the animals added to any state of emergency declaration to open up funding possibilities for rescue partners who are asked to save animals from the municipal shelters. The rescue community is very upset by these developments and we will keep fighting on behalf of the animals.
As you see, we need your support now more than ever! These are truly unprecedented and crucial times for the companion pets in need.
Yours for the Animals,
Your LBWF Team
